Audrey Tautou

Audrey Tautou was born in Beaumont in Puy-de-Domme France on August 9 1976 the youngest child of four. Audrey Tautou's parents who were a dentist and a school teacher helped and encouraged her initial passion for drama as well as theatre. She initially hoped of becoming a specialist in monkeys was eclipsed by her wish to learn about drama and theater. As a young woman the rise to fame was quick and accompanied by initial successes. When she first began the acting profession, Tautou took part in Jeunes Premiers a French show on TV that focuses on talent that was sponsored by Canal+ in 1998. Also, she was awarded the Best Young Actress for during the Beziers Festival of Young Actors. While she attended in the Institut Catholique de Paris and was a member of the church during her childhood, Tautou is now averse to this upbringing, stating she's not Catholic. Her acting and modelling careers are interspersed. Tautou was the model of L'Oreal Mont Blanc Chanel, and is often referred to as The Chanel Muse. She is a keen photographer and produced a recent exhibition in The Arles International Festival entitled Superficial. Photography of her is primarily focused on the spotlight and celebrities and then turns her camera to the journalists who scrutinised her following her sudden rise to stardom with Amelie and several self-portraits. Audrey Tautou's international recognition and popularity exploded after her role in the film as Amelie Poulain's lead woman in Le Fabuleux in the film d'Amelie. Amelie is undoubtedly a huge box office smash internationally and recognized at many awards events around the globe. The film is still the top-grossing French language film in the US. The popularity of the film has led to Tautou being cast in a range of roles, including British dramas as Dirty Pretty Things by Stephen Knight and Jean Pierre Jeunet to Hollywood's The Da Vinci Code with Tom Hanks.
