Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford has been an American dancer, actress and vocalist since the mid 1990s. She started her Broadway career with musicals like Wicked, Legally Blonde and Hair. She received an award from the Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Play for playing Essie Carmichael from You Can't Take It With You. Tony Award-winning actress Annaleigh Ashford has spent the majority of her career working alongside renowned directors and actors across theatre and on television. she will continue that work with several upcoming projects. Ashford's next project will be a limited edition Hulu show called Welcome to Chippendales, created by Robert Siegel. The show debuts on November 22 and Ashford is starring alongside Kumail Najiani. Ashford's upcoming project includes the Searchlight Pictures horror thriller Dust and he will be starring with Sarah Paulson and Ebonmoss-Bachrach. This film is a Hulu Original and will be streaming on Disney DTC. In March of 2023 Ashford will make a return appearance on Broadway and will be starring alongside Josh Groban in the revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. Thomas Kail (director) and Jeffrey Seller (producer), the same team who produced Hamilton is directing the show. Ashford appeared as Paula Jones most recently in Ryan Murphy FX's American Crime Story Impeachment, which is based on the scandal that involved Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp in the nation crisis. Ashford appeared for two seasons in the CBS hit comedy B Positive. The show was developed by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre with the legendary Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. Ashford, who is not unfamiliar with Broadway was awarded both Tony Drama Desk Awards as in addition to Outer Critics Circle Awards in her role as Essie. Her additional Broadway roles includes Sunday in the Park with George Wicked Legally Blonde and her first role as Lauren In Kinky Boots a performance for which she also received a Tony Award nomination. Ashford has been born in Denver and now lives between Los Angeles and New York.
